Mr. McCaslin has been an active music teacher and band director since 1975. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, OK. He did graduate work at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK where he was the assistant director for two years.
His experience includes all grade levels from kindergarten through university. He began his teaching career in Oklahoma and came to California in 1987. He has taught marching band, concert band, jazz band, orchestra, piano, guitar, vocal and classroom music. Mr. McCaslin joined Highland High School’s Instrumental Music Program in 2009.
Brian Almiron - Assistant Band Director
Brian has been involved with music programs since the 4th grade playing Alto Saxophone and was a member of the Highland Music program in high school playing Baritone Saxophone, marched in the tenorline and drumline captain.
Brian has performed with Antelope Valley College Marching Marauders (Baritone Saxophone and Marching Percussion), California State University at Northridge, Marching Percussion Ensemble (Front Ensemble), West Coast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (Bassline), Royal Cavaliers Performing Arts (Percussion Caption Head and Aux), Antelope Valley College Symphonic Band (Tenor & Baritone Saxophone), Cirque Berzerk (Percussion), West Coast Classical's Wind Ensemble(Baritone Saxophone) and has been part of Percussion and Visual staffs since 1998.
Brian is currently attending Antelope Valley College, pursing a degree in nursing.
Nick Bley - Percussion Caption Head
Nick was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. He first began playing
percussion in seventh grade and has been involved in marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles throughout college.
Nick attended the University of Arizona where he studied Aerospace Engineering and marched snare with the Pride of Arizona Marching Band, marched three seasons with Breakthrough Indoor Percussion (Snare), and was the Percussion Instructor/Arranger at Walden Grove High School in Sahuarita, AZ. Nick is currently a Flight Test Engineer at Edwards Air Force Base.
George Jackson III – Front Ensemble Instructor
George started playing music at the age of 9 and picked up a pair of mallets his freshman year of high school. He graduated from Lancaster High School where he spent all 4 years as a member of the front ensemble and was the Percussion Section Leader. While in high school, George also performed with the Highland High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble his junior and senior year, was a member of the Royal Cavaliers Performing Arts in 2016 and was a member of the Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps (Front Ensemble) in 2017.
George is currently continuing his General Education at College of the Canyons in Valencia.
Joscelyn Teran – Colorguard Instructor
Joscelyn Teran graduated from Highland High School in 2016, was a member of the colorguard for three years, guard captain her junior year, then became a captain her senior year, After graduating Joscelyn continued helping the color guard staff. She is currently attending Antelope Valley College for a Bachelors of Science in nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner. She is beyond excited to be an official staff member for the program and continue leading the color guard members to success.
